Hey guys, so I've been working on my free writes and trying to gather something meaningful out of all the crap that comes out. I've found myself writing more poetry type stuff, or some sort of sensory/imagery shit. As you all know, my final project is to create some form of original writing, a short story or book of poems being 2 that I proposed.
My question for you all is, what would you rather read? A short story, or a book of poems? Which one do you think would do better if published? Why? I want to make a decision so that I can start to develop my writing in favor of one or the other (poems vs story telling), instead of just writing whatever and roaming in the wide open pastures of my mind. Please and thank you everyone!
I'll be eager to hear what various people have to say in response to your questions. My own instinct is that at this point you should focus on generative writing, whatever the genre. Write what you need to write and then see where you stand.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if your ultimate aim is to write a novel, writing short stories is a good way to build your muscles for that undertaking.
